Sufficient Financial Means: You must prove you have enough income to support yourself/yourselves. In 2025, this generally means demonstrating an annual income/savings of at least €28,800 (single) and €36,000 (couple).
No Work or Professional Activity: You cannot work or engage in any professional activity in Spain while holding this visa.
Private Health Insurance: You must have comprehensive private health insurance that covers all of Spain if you are not eligible for the form S1.
Clean Criminal Record: You need a clean criminal record from the past five years.
Proof of Funds: You’ll need to provide official documents like bank statements, savings accounts, pensions, or evidence of regular income from investments to demonstrate your financial means.
Visa Application Fee & Administrative Costs:
The primary fee charged by the consulate for processing the visa application is typically around £516 per applicant.
BLS International Service Charge:
A service charge is payable by all applicants, and the visa fee is around £14.55 (inclusive of VAT) per visa application.
Passport Return Fee:
The fee for returning your passport after the visa application process is around £25.
Translation Services:
If your documents are not in Spanish, you must have them translated by a certified translator. Costs are approx 35€ per standard document, such as an ACRO and pension statement.
Apostille Fees:
There will be associated fees if your documents require apostille certification for validation. Costs are approx £70 per Apostle for documents such as ACRO and Marriage Certificates.
Medical Certificate:
A medical certificate of good health may be required, and a small fee will be associated with obtaining this, usually around £60
Criminal Record Check:
You must obtain a criminal record check, which will incur a fee.
Standard applications: £65 – up to 20 working days to process
Premium applications: £115 – up to two working days to process.
