Ben explains what life in the community is like at Park La Posada. Watch with the sound on.

Text version.
Hi there, have you ever wondered what life is like in a Spanish residential retirement community? Let me try to give you an idea.
First up, there is a funny saying that goes like this. New residents make new friends within a few days. They then make close friends within a few weeks, and within a few months, they know who to avoid. It is, after all, a community. With new friends, they enjoy a new social life with the community centre and pool at the heart of things.
Weekly events and live entertainment are organised by the committee, composed of resident volunteers. Outside of the community is real Spain with a traditional Spanish hotel and restaurant next to the park. In the village of Alameda, residents have tapas bars and restaurants that offer a good-value menu of the day.
That said, the social life is not all about eating and drinking. Friends often go out together to places like the hypermarket in the town of Antequera or the local todo stores that sell absolutely everything. Another favourite is the local garden centres in the springtime.
With a vibrant social life and better weather, residents make the most of their retirement. If you were to come on a visit and ask residents what they do with their time, you would get many answers: play golf, go fishing, go exploring or play bowls, thanks to the bowls green in the community.
From May to October, there is, of course, the pool to enjoy as well. If all this sounds good, why not check out parklaposada.com and perhaps book a one-day visit? A resident will welcome you, show you around, and answer all the questions you might have.
Following a visit, you will know if a residential retirement community is for you. Who knows, you might take up bowls one day and play against other clubs on the Costa del Sol. Life can be full of surprises.
Thanks for watching. I hope the information is of interest as you explore the retirement options in Spain.
